The Hettich EBA 280 and EBA 280 S are compact centrifuges with a rapid rotor exchange system and a choice of 6 different rotors. This makes them highly flexible instruments covering a wide range of laboratory needs — from standard blood and urine analysis to blood type serology and work with larger sample volumes.

Typical areas of use include:

  • Centrifugation of blood and urine samples in standard tubes up to 50 ml
  • Processing of paediatric microlitre tubes (0.5–2 ml)
  • Blood type serology with fixed-angle rotor 1133 and decanting aid
  • Centrifugation of samples in screw-cap tubes (up to 50 ml)
  • Rapid centrifugation of up to 12 samples simultaneously
  • General sample centrifugation in research, analytical and clinical laboratories

The EBA 280 | 280 S allows the centrifuge to be adapted to different analytical needs without additional tools, reducing processing time and increasing flexibility in the laboratory.

Both models share the same dimensions and maximum speed of 6,000 RPM, however the EBA 280 S achieves a higher maximum RCF of 5,071 compared to 4,146 for the EBA 280. The EBA 280 S also has a higher power consumption (330 VA vs. 185 VA) due to the more powerful motor.

A total of 6 different rotors are available — 3 swing-out rotors and 3 fixed-angle rotors — all of which can be changed quickly and easily without tools thanks to the quick-change system.

Yes. The quick-change system is designed for easy handling — the rotor is removed and fitted without tools, and locks automatically and securely during operation.

Yes, fixed-angle rotor 1133 (12-place, 35°) is specifically designed for blood type serology. It features adapters with a decanting aid that hold the tube securely in place during decanting of the supernatant.

With fixed-angle rotor 1137, the noise level is ≤ 47 dB(A) for the EBA 280 and ≤ 50 dB(A) for the EBA 280 S — both models are exceptionally quiet for laboratory use.
