A platelet incubator with agitator is a specialised cabinet for the safe storage of platelets (blood platelets). It maintains a stable temperature of 22 ±1 °C and has a built-in agitator that keeps the bags in continuous motion, so the platelets retain their function and quality until transfusion.

Platelets tolerate stillness poorly. Without continuous movement they clump together and gas exchange is reduced, which weakens their quality. The agitator provides steady, gentle motion throughout the entire storage period, keeping the platelets viable.

Platelets are stored at 20–24 °C, and the Haier platelet incubator maintains a stable chamber temperature of 22 ±1 °C. Precise temperature control is essential for preserving platelet quality, and the incubator monitors the temperature continuously.

The incubator uses Peltier (thermoelectric) technology instead of a traditional compressor. This gives more uniform temperature, less vibration and lower noise, while cutting energy consumption by around 13 % compared with compressor-based systems. Fewer moving parts also means higher reliability over time.

The incubator currently comes in two sizes: the HXZ-149 with 149-litre capacity and the HXZ-1369 with 1369-litre capacity. Two further sizes are on the way, so the range covers everything from smaller laboratories to large blood banks.

The difference lies in capacity and size. The HXZ-149 is a compact model for smaller volumes, while the HXZ-1369 is a large double-door cabinet for blood banks with high storage needs. Both use the same Peltier technology, integrated agitator and temperature control.

Capacity is specified in standard 300 ml blood bags. The HXZ-149 holds up to 36 bags, while the HXZ-1369 holds up to 216 bags, making it easy to match the solution to your laboratory’s or blood bank’s volume.
