The Plasma-Freezer Touch are medically approved freezers (Medical Device EMDN Z121702) designed for the storage of plasma, blood, fluids and body tissue for transfusion, administration or introduction into the body. With a temperature range down to –25°C (–20°C factory setpoint), the series is intended for standard medical freezing of plasma and biological preparations in blood banks, hospitals and clinical laboratories. The Plasma-Freezer 140 stands out as a compact countertop model, while the 400, 700 and 1500 are freestanding floor models.

Who is Plasma-Freezer Touch for?

The Plasma-Freezer 140 is suited for smaller clinics and departments with limited space and moderate storage capacity. The 400 is a compact floor unit for medium-sized facilities. The 700 is ideal for larger blood banks and hospital departments. The 1500 is designed for central blood banks and large hospitals with high volume requirements. The series is generally suitable for all healthcare institutions requiring validated, traceable plasma freeze storage in accordance with EU medical directives, as well as pharmacies and institutions with requirements for the secure storage of narcotics (lockable drawer, optional on the 400/700/1500).

Documentation

All models are certified medical devices with MDD CE certification. They comply with EU Directive 93/42/EEC (Class II), EU 2017/745 and EU 2023/607, ROHS II and III, WEEE, the F-gas Regulation and REACH. The Plasma-Freezer 140 does not carry DIN 13277 conformity, and this is not explicitly stated for the remaining models either — please refer to the individual data sheets for details. The data logger records temperature and events for 10 years, with export via USB, SD and RJ45.

Frequently Asked Questions

The key difference is the temperature range. The Plasma-Freezer operates from –25°C to –10°C and is intended for standard plasma freezing. The Plasma-Superartic goes down to –40°C and is designed for ultra-low temperature storage requirements. Choose the Plasma-Freezer for standard WHO-recommended plasma storage and the Plasma-Superartic when deeper freezing is required.

The DMLP Touch module is battery-powered and continues to record temperature and events without mains power. The hold over time at an ambient temperature of 20°C is 1.6 hours (140), 1.8 hours (400) and 2.4 hours (700 and 1500) — measured from –20°C to 0°C.

Yes. All models support Ethernet with Modbus TCP/IP, and with optional accessories you can connect via Wi-Fi, GSM (SMS notification) or Fiocchetti Cold Eyes cloud monitoring with app, email and SMS alerts.

Yes, the 400, 700 and 1500 support a lockable narcotics drawer (H 100 mm) as an optional accessory — a feature unique to these models within the series and not available on the 140 model.
